Offline Navigation

Turn-by-turn routing that works anywhere, even without connectivity. Powered by GraphHopper with offline map data, multiple vehicle profiles, and terrain-aware path planning for tactical operations.

Routing Without Connectivity

The Offline Navigation module provides full routing capability in disconnected environments. Pre-load map data for your area of operations and navigate with turn-by-turn directions, distance estimates, and ETA calculations — no cell service required.

🗺 Remote Operations

A search and rescue team deploys to a wilderness area with no cellular coverage. They pre-loaded OpenStreetMap data for a 100km radius before departure. Throughout the multi-day operation, they navigate forest roads, trail networks, and cross-country routes using offline turn-by-turn guidance.

GraphHopper Engine

Built on GraphHopper, the industry-leading open-source routing engine. The embedded engine runs entirely on-device, providing fast route calculations with no external dependencies.

Engine Features

Vehicle Profiles

Different vehicles have different capabilities. The module includes pre-configured profiles for common vehicle types, and supports custom profiles for specialized requirements.

Profile Use Case Constraints
Foot Dismounted patrols, hiking Trails, paths, pedestrian areas
Hiking Backcountry navigation All paths, elevation awareness
Bicycle Mountain bike, patrol bike Bike paths, low-traffic roads
Car Vehicle convoy operations Paved roads, speed limits
4WD Off-road vehicles, tactical Unpaved roads, trails
Truck Logistics, supply convoy Height/weight restrictions
Small Vehicle ATV, UTV, motorcycle Narrow paths, trails

Terrain-Aware Routing

Beyond road networks, the module can incorporate terrain data for off-road navigation. Elevation profiles help estimate travel time, and slope constraints avoid routes that exceed vehicle capabilities.

Terrain Features

Multi-Point Routing

Plan routes with multiple waypoints. Optimize the sequence for efficiency, or manually order waypoints to meet tactical requirements. Support for circular routes that return to the starting point.

Route Type Description Use Case
A to B Simple point-to-point Travel to objective
Multi-Waypoint Via multiple intermediate points Patrol route with checkpoints
Optimized Auto-ordered for shortest total Area coverage, deliveries
Circular Returns to start Reconnaissance patrol

Map Data Management

Download and manage offline map data for your areas of operation. Data is stored efficiently and can cover large geographic regions in reasonable storage space.

Data Specifications

Turn-by-Turn Guidance

Receive spoken and visual navigation instructions. Voice prompts announce upcoming turns, while the map display shows your position and route clearly. Works with headset for hands-free operation.

🔊 Voice Navigation

A convoy commander needs to navigate unfamiliar roads at night. They load the destination and start navigation. Voice prompts announce turns through their vehicle's audio system, allowing them to keep eyes on the road and surroundings rather than the screen.

Route Sharing

Share planned routes with team members via CoT messaging. Recipients can load the route for their own navigation, ensuring coordinated movement across the team.
